Kate McCahill on KSFR’s THE LAST WORD

Listen up, dear readers!

Abigail Adler has featured yours truly on her weekly radio program, THE LAST WORD. 

Abigail Adler is a journalist with decades of experience covering issues in New Mexico. She was a reporter, moderator and anchor for Channel 13 News and Channel 2 News, Santa Fe in the 1980s. Abigail has also worked extensively as a photo-journalist and print journalist. She began her radio career right here at KSFR in 2006. Abigail has served on the Board of Directors of St. Elizabeth Shelter and the Resource Theatre Company. She is currently on the advisory board for the New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness (NMCEH) and serves on the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Council on Photography.

About Kate

Starting in December 2010, I travelled from Guatemala to Patagonia, making the trip mostly overland, by bus. I'm grateful for my funding provided by Wellesley College's Mary Elvira Stevens Traveling Fellowship, and am indebted to Doug Glover, who assigned me Paul Theroux's book, THE OLD PATAGONIAN EXPRESS, and thus inspired this project. I traced Theroux's footprints through Central and South America, learning Spanish, teaching English, and writing my book, PATAGONIAN ROAD.

Here's what I learned along the way: Don't listen to those who try to talk you out of your dreams. Focus on figuring out how to get to where you want to go, and then making it happen.
